Meet Your Dietitian
Cristen Lindsay, RD
Hi, I’m Cristen Lindsay, Registered Dietitian and founder of Nutrition Support Rx.
For nearly a decade, I’ve worked with patients navigating complex medical and nutrition needs, from critical illness and chronic disease to gastrointestinal conditions, metabolic health concerns, tube feeding, and total parenteral nutrition (TPN).
My background is rooted in clinical nutrition. I began my career at Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, a Level I trauma center, where I cared for critically ill patients and also provided outpatient nutrition care through the neurology clinic. I later spent several years at Clovis Community Medical Center, providing medical nutrition therapy for patients in intensive care and throughout the hospital.
Those experiences taught me something important: good nutrition care shouldn’t end when you leave the hospital.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics and completed my dietetic internship at California State University, Fresno. I have also held the Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) credential, reflecting advanced training and experience in specialized nutrition support.
Why I Started Nutrition Support Rx
I founded Nutrition Support Rx after seeing a gap between the highly specialized nutrition care patients receive in the hospital and the support available once they return home.
What began with a focus on tube feeding and TPN has grown into a practice for people who need thoughtful, individualized medical nutrition therapy, whether they are managing a complex medical condition, working to improve their metabolic health, struggling with gastrointestinal symptoms, or simply trying to understand what nutrition looks like for their body and their life.
My goal is to make nutrition care feel less overwhelming and more useful. You deserve more than a handout and a list of foods to avoid. You deserve to understand what is happening in your body, why your nutrition plan matters, and how to make it work in real life.
My Approach
My approach combines clinical expertise with genuinely human care. Nutrition recommendations should be evidence-based, but they also need to work for the person who actually has to live with them.
That means you can expect:
Individualized care tailored to your medical needs, goals, preferences, and lifestyle
Evidence-based medical nutrition therapy grounded in current nutrition science
Collaboration with your healthcare team when coordinated care can help you achieve better outcomes
Practical education so you understand not only what we’re doing, but why
Compassion and respect for the fact that food, health, illness, and body image can all be deeply personal
At Nutrition Support Rx, my job isn’t simply to tell you what to eat. It’s to help you feel informed, supported, and confident in caring for your health.
Outside of Work
When I’m not working with patients, I enjoy spending time with my three children, exploring new recipes, and reading all the books. You might find me out at Barns and Noble stalking shelves (not stocking, more like un-stocking), or at the park with my babies. I also enjoy staying active and I am VERY interested in any restaurant recommendations you may have!
